Meet the doctors and staff of Bytown Cat Hospital
Chantal graduated with honours in Arts and Sciences from St. Lawrence College in 1996, and graduated from the Animal Care Technician Program in 1998.  She has been working as a Veterinary Technician since 1999, joining us in November 2004.  In her spare time, she spoils her 3 cats.Cynthia has been a veterinary assistant with us since 1998.  She has developed a special fondness for our geriatric patients and loves to pamper the cats that board with us.  She spends her spare time with her family and her two cats.Erin joined our team in December 2009.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University with a Major in English Literature.  She is an avid animal lover with a special affinity towards cats.  She currently has two beautiful cats named Elsa-Rae and Winston.Laura joined our team in December 2009.  She graduated from the School of the Photographic Arts in 2007.  In 2010 she completed the Veterinary Assistant Program at Algonquin College.  She lives with one cat, “Red”, who enjoys napping in the kitchen window and playing with his Mom in the backyard!Nancy joined our team in 2004 after graduating from the Boreal College Veterinary Technologist program offered at the University of Guelph Campus in Alfred, Ontario.  Nancy is bilingual and lives outside Ottawa with her 4 cats and 1 dog.Dr. Sylvie Nicholson graduated from the Universite de Montreal in 1982 & completed an internship in small animal medicine & surgery at the University of Saskatchewan.  She joined us in 1993.  She lives in Ottawa with her family, including 2 cats and 2 dogs.  Her interests include swimming & cooking.Dr. Rosalyn MacDonald received her Biology degree from St. Francis Xavier University and graduated in 2001 from the Atlantic Veterinary College.  She moved to Ottawa in 2002 & joined our team.  In addition to seeing a regular patient caseload, Dr. MacDonald provides our endoscopy services.Dr. Susan Little is one of only 4 board-certified feline specialists in Canada and is the editor of a textbook on feline medicine. When not traveling to give lectures, she lives in Ottawa with her family.

Meet our feline mascots
Carolyne has 2 beautiful cats, a very furry rabbit & a large fresh water aquarium.  She has always been interested in animal health, volunteering at a local animal shelter & taking related courses.  She plans to finish her schooling and become a Veterinary Technician.  Carolyne joined us in 2011.Jessica graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Algonquin College, Ottawa in 2006.  She joined the Merivale Cat Hospital team in 2008.  Her house is full of an array of animals, including a dog, a cat, a turtle and four tropical fish.Krysten is in her final year of the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College. She lives in Ottawa with her dog, 3 cats, and 2 chinchillas. Before joining Merivale Cat Hospital in January 2011 she rescued and found loving homes for several stray cats in Ottawa.Melanie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College and become a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2006.  She joined Merivale Cat Hospital in March 2011.  She has several cats & a dog.  Melanie is passionate about Continuing Education & loves specializing in cats.Dr. Emma Thom graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2000 and joined us in 2009. Her 3 cats graciously allow Dr. Thom & her family to share their home & look after them.  Dr Thom has special interests in nutrition & geriatric medicine & hopes to become a certified feline specialist.Dr. Glenys Hughes obtained her BSc in Zoology from the University of Guelph in 1984 & graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1994. She joined the cat hospitals in 2002 & is pursuing board certification in feline practice. She lives in Metcalfe with her family, 2 cats, a dog, & guinea pig.Dr. Douglas Boeckh graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1984. In 1987, he opened Merivale Cat Hospital, the first clinic exclusively for cats in eastern Ontario, and Bytown Cat Hospital 4 years later. Dr. Boeckh has been involved with the Terry Fox Foundation for many years.
